Cody NesSmith Foundation
The Cody NesSmith Foundation was created to honor the legacy of Cody NesSmith and his passion for team roping. Our memorial roping is driven by one purpose—helping kids and lifting up families when they need it most. It’s about hope, relief, and the reminder that no one walks through hard times alone. Before Cody left us, he shared his wishes: to help others facing the same battles he endured. That mission lives on through our foundation.
Our motto is simple: “Give it away.” Cody believed in giving with a generous heart, and that same spirit continues in every single gift we’ve been able to share.
Our Mission
Our son Cody will always be our hero. He fought a battle that most would have given up on.
When you hear the words, “I’m sorry, your child has cancer,” and later, “I’m sorry, there is nothing more we can do,” they are words no parent is ever prepared for. From that moment on, you soak in every moment you have left—and grieve for the ones you won’t—while somehow trying to find a way to say goodbye.

Before Cody left us, we talked with him about how we wanted to honor his life. So many people had stood beside us, and we knew we wanted to give back in his name. We asked him what he would like us to do. His answer was simple, yet powerful:

“Raise the money and give it away.”
​
And so that is our mission. Through the Cody NesSmith Memorial Roping and the Foundation created in his name, we will continue to honor his legacy by helping other children experience the trip of a lifetime.

Support the Foundation
The proceeds from the team roping will be used for the Cody Nessmith Memorial Foundation. The foundation will be geared towards but not limited to kids in the rodeo community that are battling cancer and other illnesses.
